We are very excited to announce new feature of our beloved job searching app: it now adds Home screen widget. This widget can be placed anywhere on the desktop of your device by doing a “long click”. Basically – make sure that you are not running any apps (including Hire*A*Droid) and then tap and hold your finger anywhere on your desktop where you have enough space. This will bring a list of choices – select “Widgets” and then select Hire*A*Droid from the list.
Once placed and properly set – widget will display the top entry from the search the widget is set up with. The search is re-run every hour however between runs it stays dormant and does not consume any battery power. Brand new entries are marked with a star icon which goes away after next refresh or when user clicks on the job description to view a list of all current results.
You can have as many widgets as your screen will accommodate
The feature is very new so if you have any problem with it please report it to us.

Release 1.1.8 of Hire*A*Droid brings United Kingdom jobs with more countries to follow. Country selection is “sticky”, please don’t forget to change it depending on in which country you are job-hunting. Searching for jobs in multiple countries simultaneously is not supported.

So what’s that flurry of activity today? 4 releases in the row – driving everybody bananas probably. Why not test thoroughly and do 1 release instead of 4? Well – that’s good in theory and rest assure – we do plenty of testing prior to release. However – the beauty of Android platfoerm is that once the build is out and everybody starts using it – when the unexpected bugs occur we’re getting these right away. And we are very serious about fixing these so you get the rapid updates until no bugs are generated.
Thank you for your patience! And happy browsing!

Pre-loading Jobs
This release adds pre-caching of job summary. When user looks at the job details in the returned results list the final summary content is immediately requested on the background. Then, when user goes to see job summary – the cached content is served.
There’s no need to wait until job is pre-loaded, user can click to see job details at any time
It’s possible but not recommended to pre-cache more than 5 jobs since it will slow overall content capturing.

Why so many versions in just a week? Simple – we are hard at work to fix any reported and discovered bugs and optimize the performance.
Notable features in these releases:
In the search result view the summary will start loading on the background the instance you click on the heading to see the job details. This will come handy in the future support of job bookmarks
