Hire*A*Droid gets major update (v. 2.0.0)

Search v.2

Search v.2

With 3 search engine support original Hire*A*Droid UI was getting clunky and poorly usable. V. 2.0.0 addresses it by major redesign and theme update. Gone are dark colors and confusing options. Now when you pick the country from the list you don’t have to guess if it is supported by the search engine. The search results are now displayed in tabbed interface. You can “fling” between the tabs to access search results for each engine. If the engine is not supported for the country you picked then the engine tab will be disabled.

Per request – the “mini” widget is now available, still you can download “pro” widget from the Android market.

This release contains many changes, please consider it a “beta” quality. If you have any problem with it please report bugs from the “comments” page or as comments to this entry.

PacketVideo is hiring

Hire*A*Droid – facelift

New Engine buttonOh boy, 4 releases in one day, why? Simple – the upgrades were massive enough to introduce some bugs which we were fixing as fast as we could. Now, the app is up to v. 1.5.9 and it also got a little face lift.

It was pretty obvious from people comments that despite the note on app home page – users totally missed the fact that graphic at the bottom allowed to select alternative search engine. We changed that to button, so it’s more pronounced and more obvious.

Hire*A*Droid v. 1.5.5 is out

Click Me!!!

Hire*A*Droid v. 1.5.5 adds 3-rd engine to the list. Welcome LinkUp! Please note that LinkUp currently supports only US and Canada so if you need to search in more countries switch to ether SimplyHired or Indeed.com.

How? Just click on the search engine icon or select “Engine” from the menu.

Hire*A*Droid v.1.5.0 is out

It’s been a while but v. 1.5.0 is finally out! It adds new, exciting ability to choose underlying search engine to get latest and greatest jobs. In addition to the original SimplyHired you can now select Indeed.com by simply touching “powered by” icon at the bottom of the main screen.
This release also separates widget from the app. The widget is not free but is priced at very affordable 99 cents US. It sports new, upgraded design and retains all former functionality except notifications.

A Top Job Search makes top of the list

A Top Job Search (a.k.a. Hire*A*Droid) according to http://cyrket.com tops the list of most downloaded “job search” applications on Android Market

Top Job Search v. 1.3.4 is released

Yes, the name of the Android app is now “A Top Job Search”. We got hints from our users that “Hire*A*Droid* was a little bit too nerdy and cryptic (we still like it)
On the mechanics side here are the important changes:

A Top Job Search
  • Added China and Switzerland to the list of supported countries
  • “Select country” button is relocated next to the “Location” field
  • Selecting a different country resets the “Location” field
  • “Locate me” functionality will pick a country (if available)
  • Performance improvements
  • Palette was made “sticky”. It will retain its state (hide/show) between invocations
